Guang Hua Media (Germany) GmbH

Guang Hua Media (Germany) GmbH (光華傳媒德國有限公司) is the Frankfurt-based company that runs the German operations of Nouvelles d’Europe (歐洲時報), the Paris-based paper. The paper is owned by a company controlled by the CCP’s United Front Work Department. Guang Hua was entered in the commercial register on June 28, 2013, with 25,000 euros in share capital. Its stated business includes publishing and trade in goods, “in particular art objects.” Its first listed managing director was Zhang Xiaobei (張曉貝), who was then publisher of Nouvelles d’Europe. The company’s German website presents it as part of a “Guang Hua Culture and Media Group” and calls that group “the largest Chinese-language culture and media group in Europe.” The site attributes to the group the paper itself, news sites in four languages, WeChat accounts, a Paris travel agency, and culture centers in Paris, London, Vienna and Frankfurt. In Germany, the company publishes the weekly German edition of Nouvelles d’Europe and the German-language monthly China Rundschau. It also runs the paper’s Frankfurt Chinese Culture Center, which shares the company’s address.
