Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos

The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos (中華人民共和國駐拉各斯總領事館) is a diplomatic mission under China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, opened in 2003. Beyond standard consular work, including issuing visas to Nigerians and handling passport affairs and travel documents for Chinese nationals, the office engages with Lagos state officials and Nigerian think tanks to promote Chinese policy positions. In October 2026, then-Director of Bilateral Relations and Commerce Xu Fan (徐帆) met with Nigerian media executives to explain the Chinese Communist Party’s position on Taiwan and the “One China Principle,” China’s sovereignty claim over Taiwan.
