African Union

The African Union is a continental body comprising 55 member states from across Africa. Founded on July 9, 2002, in Durban, South Africa, it succeeded the Organisation of African Unity (OAU, 1963-1999). The AU was established to shift focus from decolonization to increased cooperation and integration among African states to drive economic development. Its vision is “An Integrated, Prosperous and Peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena.” The AU works through several decision-making organs including the Assembly of Heads of State, the Executive Council, and the African Union Commission. Its long-term development framework, Agenda 2063, aims to achieve socio-economic transformation and integration. In September 2023, the AU became a permanent member of the G20, representing a significant achievement for African representation in global economic governance.

SPH Media Limited

SPH Media Limited (华文媒体集团) is a Singapore-based media organization formed in 2021 following the restructuring of Singapore Press Holdings’ media business into a not-for-profit entity. It publishes news and lifestyle content across digital and print platforms in multiple languages, including The Straits Times, first published on 15 July 1845 and recognized as Singapore’s oldest newspaper by the National Library Board. With 42 media brands and 15 overseas bureaus, SPH Media plays a central role in Singapore’s media landscape, maintaining close ties to the state through its ownership structure.

Media Council of Tanzania

The Media Council of Tanzania (坦桑尼亞媒體委員會) is Tanzania’s primary media regulatory body, implementing program strategies with explicit components on research, policy analysis and documentation while handling ethics complaints from organizations and the public. The Council conducts research to enlighten the public on critical media subjects and examines policy impacts on freedom of expression as a basic human right, engaging consultants including sociologists and experienced journalists to prepare terms of reference for “supporting the journalism profession in Tanzania.” The organization also processes ethics complaints such as Legal and Human Rights Center allegations against The Citizen newspaper regarding “damaging story” coverage, indicating dual regulatory oversight and advocacy functions within Tanzania’s media landscape.

TG5

TG5 or TeleGiornale 5 is the flagship news program of Italy’s Canale 5, broadcasting from Rome as part of the Mediaset network. The program launched on January 13, 1992, under founding director Enrico Mentana, who created the newscast alongside journalists including Lamberto Sposini, Clemente J. Mimun, Emilio Carelli, Cesara Buonamici, and Cristina Parodi. The program evolved from earlier regional news coverage, including Video 5 (1980) and Canale 5 News (1983). Currently headed by editor-in-chief Clemente Mimun since July 2007, TG5 features multiple daily broadcasts starting with “TG5 Prima Pagina” at 6:00 AM, followed by editions throughout the day, including morning, midday, evening, and late-night broadcasts. The format typically employs single newsreaders with live correspondent reports and specialized presenters for financial segments.

China–Africa Development Fund

The China–Africa Development Fund (中非發展基金), or CAD Fund, was announced by Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Hu Jintao (胡錦濤) on November 4, 2006, as part of eight measures for Sino-African relations at the Beijing Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit, and began operations on June 26, 2007. The fund is managed by China Development Bank (國家開發銀行),  a bank under the State Council, the PRC’s government. The CAD Fund makes equity investments in sectors including agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing, industrial parks, and resource development throughout Africa, supporting Chinese corporate investment on the continent while asserting it will “strengthen Africa’s capacity to develop on its own and enhance Africa’s competitiveness.” Among its known investments is a 20 percent stake in South Africa’s Independent Media. 

Malaysian National News Agency

The Malaysian National News Agency, or Bernama, is Malaysia’s official government news agency established under the Bernama Act 1967 and commenced operations on May 20, 1968. Operating as an autonomous statutory body under the Ministry of Communications, Bernama provides real-time news and information services in multiple languages including Malay, English, Chinese, Tamil, Spanish, and Arabic. Bernama maintains branches in every Malaysian state and international correspondents and stringers across ASEAN countries, the United States, United Kingdom, West Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. Beyond its wire service, Bernama operates its own 24-hour radio and television channels and has launched digital media platforms. The agency recently began utilising AI technology to enhance news delivery and multimedia content production.

Seoul National University

Seoul National University (서울대학교) is South Korea’s flagship public research university located in Seoul. The university was established on August 27, 1946, by merging ten institutions of higher education around the Seoul area. The university comprises 16 colleges offering 83 undergraduate programs and serves nearly 17,000 undergraduate and 11,000 graduate students. While no formal framework for cooperation with China was found, Seoul National University maintains engagement with Chinese institutions through participation in bilateral forums. In October 2025, Professor Park Byeong-seug, visiting professor at the university’s Graduate School of International Studies, participated in the 2025 China-South Korea Media Cooperation Forum held in Seoul under the theme “China-South Korea Cooperation for an Intelligent Future.”

Union of Bulgarian Journalists

The Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ) is Bulgaria’s largest professional journalism organization, founded in 1904. The Union says it represents 4,500 members and advocates for professional standards, media freedom, and journalists’ labor rights. UBJ maintains partnerships with journalism associations from 51 countries, cooperating  with EU member states and non-EU member Balkan countries. The UBJ also conducts legislative advocacy, submitting proposals to Bulgaria’s National Assembly on media ownership transparency and journalist protections.

Studio Homegrown Productions

Studio Homegrown Productions, a Solomon Islands media entity founded in 2004 by Karl Tokuro Vaekesa, initially operated as “Pink Moskito Net Production” before being renamed “Homegrown Productions” later that year and subsequently registered as Studio Homegrown Productions. Based in Naha 3, East Honiara, the company specializes in music videos, cultural content, and multimedia production services promoting “homegrown music, cultures, stories, and lifestyle of Solomon Islanders.” The studio maintains a significant digital presence with 80,000 Facebook followers and 40,000 YouTube subscribers. Vaekesa participated in Chinese government-sponsored media exchanges in 2025, visiting Beijing institutions including China Media Group Mobile and CCTV.com as part of the Belt and Road Initiative programming between China and Pacific nations.
