China Internet Body Holds Global Training

The World Internet Conference Digital Academy (世界互联网大会数字研修院) held a training program on “Digital Economy Innovation and Development” during the 2025 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum on July 24, 2025. According to a state media readout, the program attracted government officials and business representatives from 26 countries and regions, focusing on data governance and cross-border data flows. Liang Hao (梁昊), the executive deputy secretary-general of the WIC and executive vice-dean of the WICDA, said the academy aims to “inject new vitality into digital development” and build an “open, trustworthy, and shared global digital economy ecosystem.” The training was jointly organized by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), China’s primary internet control body, and featured instructors from Beijing Normal University’s Belt and Road School (北京师范大学”一带一路”学院) and the Asia Academy of Digital Economics, though specific participating countries were not disclosed. The World Internet Conference (WIC) was founded in 2014 as an annual forum hosted by China in Wuzhen, promoting Beijing’s vision of internet governance and digital cooperation. The event, through which China has often tried to force joint declarations with participants to support its views on cyberspace governance, has had limited participation, despite its global branding.

Overseas Chinese Media Delegation Visit to Fuzhou New Area

On August 15, representatives from ten overseas Chinese-language media outlets, including Germany’s European New Immigrant Network, Italy’s Overseas Chinese Network, Mauritius’ Chinese Voice, the Philippines’ World Daily and Business Daily, visited the Fuzhou New Area (福州新區) during a two-day tour to observe local development. The delegation toured the China-Indonesia Two Countries Twin Parks (中印尼兩國雙園), where Shi Jie (施捷), vice chairman of Saneheld (Fuqing) Food Company, stated that the Twin Parks “brought enormous business opportunities.” The Two Countries Twin Parks initiative, approved by China’s State Council in January 2023, represents a new bilateral cooperation model where both countries establish industrial parks on each other’s territory. The group also visited the Digital Fujian Cloud Computing Center (數字福建雲計算中心), which officials claimed “possesses the fastest computing platform in Fujian Province” with processing capabilities of “60 trillion calculations per second.” Media representatives expressed interest in promoting Fuzhou New Area’s economic achievements to overseas Chinese communities.

China Journalists Association Engages with Iranian Media at Beijing Press Event

On March 9, 2025, the Tehran Times reported on Iranian journalists participating in a group interview with Guangdong delegates to China’s National People’s Congress, organized by the All-China Journalists Association (中華全國新聞工作者協會). ACJA representatives acknowledged that “exchange and cooperation between ACJA and Iranian journalists organization is not much, which is not matched with our bilateral political relations as well as the economic cooperation.” The organization expressed interest in “media delegation visits, joint interviews or coverage of some projects, media professional training” and specifically invited Iranian media counterparts to attend “the coming 2025 Belt & Road Journalists Network Forum in July.” The press event showcased developments in renewable energy, electric vehicles, battery recycling, artificial intelligence, and robotics through interactions with three Guangdong entrepreneurs serving as NPC delegates.

Media Seminar in Beijing with Delegation of Laos and Myanmar Journalists

In September 2017, thirteen journalists from Laos and Myanmar participated in a two-week seminar in Beijing focused on China’s development, media roles, and social responsibility. The closing ceremony was held on September 28, 2017, attended by Zhao Lijun (赵立军), Director of the China International Publishing Group (中国外文局) Training Center. The seminar aimed “to enhance the traditional friendship and cooperation between China and the two ASEAN member countries,” according to the Lao News Agency (KPL). Officials briefed participants on China’s development policies and achievements since its 1978 economic reforms. Zhao stated that the Belt and Road Initiative, launched by President Xi Jinping, “upholds shared consultation, shared construction and shared benefits” and is “inclusive rather than exclusive.” The program included visits to Xinhua News Agency (新華社) and Guangdong province to observe media operations and regional development.
