China Daily Partners with Egypt’s Al-Ahram
The government-run Chinese newspaper has gained access to the circulation network of an influential Arabic daily, expanding distribution across six Egyptian cities.
Al-Ahram Al-Arabi (阿拉伯國民) is a political weekly magazine published in Cairo by the Dar Al Ahram publishing house, which also owns the daily newspaper Al-Ahram and Al-Ahram Weekly, two of Egypt’s largest media outlets. Founded in 1997, the magazine is currently edited by Khaled Tawheed, who assumed the position in June 2014. Unlike its sister publication Al-Ahram, Al-Ahram Al-Arabi maintains a critical stance toward Egyptian government policies and espouses anti-Israel positions. The magazine has been used as a platform for Chinese diplomatic messaging, including articles by Chinese Consul General in Alexandria Zhao Liying (趙麗瑩) promoting China-Arab cooperation initiatives.
