Brazilian Press Association Signs ACJA Memorandum

On June 16, 2025, the Brazilian Press Association (ABI), founded in 1908 and one of Brazil’s oldest press organizations, signed a memorandum of understanding in Rio de Janeiro with the official All-China Journalists Association (中華全國新聞工作者協會), or ACJA, a Chinese Communist Party-led professional association that serves a key role in implementing press control policies, according to the ABI. Wu Xu (吳旭), a member of the ACJA Secretariat, signed for the Chinese side. The memorandum formalized a relationship that began in 2023. In August 2024, the ABI was admitted to the International Home of Journalists (國際記者之家), an ACJA initiative that recruits foreign journalist associations into a China-centered network. In November of that year, the ABI began hosting a liaison office for Bridging News, a news service run by China’s West China International Communication Organization.
