Chinese Embassy in Sweden Personnel Publish Article on Europe and China Relations

On January 15, 2026, Wan Degang (萬德剛), Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, published a signed article in Stockholm-based online outlet NewsVoice urging greater cooperation between China and Europe as “the world is facing more pronounced instability and uncertainty.” In a clear reference to the United States, the article mentions the situation in Venezuela as well as “the uncertain future of Greenland.” The article, titled “Crossing Mountains and Seas, Beauty in Harmony: China and Europe Join Hands to Build a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind” (跨越山海,美美與共:中歐攜手共建人類命運共同體), makes a clear reference to the “shared future” foreign policy language of Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which frames CCP principles like state sovereignty and non-interference as common goals for development and transnational peace. Echoing a classic Chinese expression that Xi Jinping has used since 2017 to describe the Chinese Communist Party as having a global responsibility for international peace, Wan argues that China and Europe are under “heaven as one family” (天下一家).
