Henan Daily Press Group

Henan Daily Press Group (河南日報報業集團) is a state-owned media conglomerate headquartered in Zhengzhou, built around its flagship party organ Henan Daily (河南日報), which was founded on June 1, 1949 as the official newspaper of the Henan CCP Provincial Committee. The group was formally established on July 28, 2000, and in 2004 was restructured to spin off its commercial assets and operations into a separate limited company, Henan Daily Press Group Co. Ltd. (河南日報報業集團有限公司), as part of a national pilot program on cultural-sector reform aimed at separating editorial and commercial functions; in 2022, its institutional arm was renamed Henan Daily Press (河南日報社), forming a parallel “one press, one company” structure that operates under the direct oversight of the Henan CCP Provincial Committee. The group reported total assets exceeding 10 billion yuan and roughly 5,300 employees as of 2024, with 34 wholly owned or controlled subsidiaries spanning publishing, digital media, education, and cultural tourism. Its properties include the metro daily Dahe Daily (大河報), the digital outlet Dahe.cn (大河網) operated through its Dahe Network Media Group (大河網絡傳媒集團) subsidiary, and the Henan International Communication Center, the province’s official international propaganda outlet, which it has operated since the center’s 2023 launch.
