Leadership Group Limited

Leadership Group Limited (領導者集團有限公司) is the Abuja-based media company that publishes the daily Leadership and National Economy. It was founded by Sam Nda-Isaiah, a pharmacist-turned-columnist. After his death in 2020, his wife, Zainab Nda-Isaiah, succeeded him as chairman. In May 2019, Sam Nda-Isaiah convened a roundtable in Abuja as chairman of the Abuja Beijing Consensus, a newly created think tank meant to promote Nigeria’s engagement with the Belt and Road Initiative. Chinese Ambassador Zhou Pingjian (周平劍) co-hosted the event. There, Nda-Isaiah praised China’s “win-win cooperation” and said its model appealed to developing countries because it “does not interfere with the internal affairs of other countries.” In 2023, under Zainab Nda-Isaiah, the group signed an agreement with China Media Group (中央廣播電視總台) during a visit by a delegation led by An Xiaoyu (安曉宇), director general of its Asian and African Languages Programming Center (亞非語言節目中心). China Media Group offered training for the group’s staff and technical assistance. Nda-Isaiah praised the Chinese government’s “strict regulations and sanctions” against fake news and said Nigeria “can learn a lot from China.” In 2024, the group hosted a delegation from the official All-China Journalists Association (中華全國新聞工作者協會), whose leader praised the paper and invited its staff to China.
