The Propaganda Office of the Chinese Communist Party’s Jiangsu Provincial Committee (中共江蘇省委宣傳部) functions as the central ideological control apparatus for the province. It directs all state-run media, including the provincial Party committee’s official mouthpiece, Xinhua Daily (新華日報), published by the Xinhua Daily Media Group (新華報業傳媒集團). Located in Nanjing’s Gulou District (南京市鼓樓區), the office implements directives from both the central and provincial Party leadership to maintain “correct” political orientation in all local media. It controls information flows, manages public opinion, coordinates propaganda campaigns, and oversees cultural production across the province, ensuring all channels consistently amplify Party messaging and promote official narratives. The office is also active in external propaganda. In October 2026, it co-hosted the Belt and Road Journalists Forum in Nanjing with the All-China Journalists Association (中華全國新聞工作者協會). At the forum, its head, Xu Ying (徐纓), pledged that Jiangsu would work with foreign journalists to “tell good stories” of shared development.
