China and ASEAN launch joint AI media initiative as Beijing expands its technological influence regionally.

On August 4, 2026, the Guangxi International Communication Center (廣西國際傳播中心), a provincial-level center founded in 2024 in the capital of Nanning to oversee global propaganda and public diplomacy efforts, held a ceremony for the relaunch of its Thailand liaison office. An unnamed MCOT representative was quoted in the release saying that cooperation between the two sides would foster a “China-Thailand community of shared future,” this being a direct reference to Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s key foreign policy phrase.
