The Sun

The Sun Malaysia is a national English-language daily newspaper published in tabloid format, founded on June 1, 1993, by Sun Media Corporation Sdn Bhd. The newspaper briefly halted publication on June 30, 1994, for restructuring before resuming operations a month later. In April 2002, The Sun transitioned to a free distribution model, becoming Malaysia’s first national free daily newspaper. The publication operates Monday through Friday, targeting white-collar workers and urban youth with news briefs designed for busy executives.

Nanfang Media Group

Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Guangzhou, Nanfang Media Group is one of China’s most internationally recognized media conglomerates, with a strong commercial and professional spirit in spite of its oversight by the propaganda office of Guangdong province. The group operates a comprehensive multimedia ecosystem covering over 460 million users through its integrated communication system (全媒体传播体系). The group operates across multiple segments, including publishing, advertising, printing services, and logistics. It is the parent company of some of China’s most vibrant and professional media outlets, including Southern Weekly (南方周末), Southern Metropolis Daily (南方都市报), Nandu Weekly (南都周刊), and Southern People Weekly (南方人物周刊). In 2024, new media and diversified revenue accounted for over 70% of the group’s income, with the combined brand value of its flagship publications reaching 219.81 billion yuan. In January 2013, during Xi Jinping’s early tenure as Communist Party general secretary, the group gained international attention when Southern Weekly employees went on strike protesting excessive censorship—marking a pivotal moment in China’s media landscape.

Phoenix International Media Center

The Phoenix International Media Center serves as the operational hub for Phoenix Satellite Television Group (凤凰卫视集团), housing its Beijing broadcasting operations with four specialized production studios ranging from 100 to 1,200 square meters. The facility supports multimedia content creation across Phoenix TV’s multiple channels, including news, documentaries, and cultural programming for both Mandarin and Cantonese audiences. Beyond television production, the center functions as an interactive media space where visitors can experience exhibitions on broadcasting technology and participate in public media events. The building includes dedicated areas for digital media operations, post-production facilities, and live broadcasting capabilities, enabling Phoenix to deliver content across traditional television and emerging digital platforms.

Chubun Sangyo Co Ltd

Listed on the footer of Japan’s Chinese-language Chubun (中文導報) as the copyright holder, Chubun Sangyo Co., Ltd. (中文产业株式会社) is the publisher of what China’s Baidu Baike describes as Japan’s “comprehensive Chinese-language weekly newspaper.” The company has published Chubun since its September 1992 founding, distributing 80,000 copies weekly across four sections. A 2005 speech by the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, published in CNHubei, describes Chubun Sangyo as “Japan’s largest comprehensive Chinese enterprise promoting Sino-Japanese exchange” and a “cross-media group” operating multiple outlets including Chubun, “Lele China” (乐乐中国) television station, Japanese magazine CHAi, and the “Kentoshi” (遣唐使) website. However, the company also describes itself as a logistics firm delivering “necessary goods to necessary places at necessary times” with “low prices, high quality, and short delivery times,” creating an unusual structure where a supply chain operation owns a prominent Chinese-language media outlet.

Associated Press Of Pakistan

The Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) is Pakistan’s state-run national news agency, founded in 1947 following the country’s independence. The agency provides news content in English, Urdu, and seven regional languages, including Chinese, Arabic, Sindhi, Saraiki, Pashto, and many others. Operating from its headquarters in Islamabad, APP maintains nine bureaus, seven stations, and foreign correspondents in Washington, London, New Delhi, and Beijing, with approximately 400 editorial staff. The agency functions under the administrative control of Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and was converted into a corporate entity in 2002. However, it remains firmly controlled by the state, with editorial directives centrally managed and no legislative safeguards for editorial independence.

Página 12 is an Argentine newspaper published in Buenos Aires, founded on May 25, 1987, by journalists Jorge Lanata and Ernesto Tiffenberg. The newspaper established itself as a progressive, left-leaning alternative publication known for investigative journalism and critical analysis of political and social issues. Since 2016, Página 12 has been owned by Grupo Octubre, a multimedia company created by Víctor Santa María, Secretary General of the building workers union SUTERH and former president of the Partido Justicialista in Buenos Aires. The newspaper is described as Argentina’s fourth most visited news portal and maintains a readership primarily composed of individuals aged 18-52 from medium and upper-middle socioeconomic groups. Página 12 has distinguished itself through revelations of various scandals while maintaining a critical stance against corruption, resulting in multiple journalism awards. In 2018, the Polish League Against Defamation sued Página 12 using Poland’s controversial Holocaust law over an article about the Jedwabne massacre. Javier Lewkowicz, a journalist and economist from the University of Buenos Aires who has worked at Página 12 since 2009, serves as economics editor and participated in the February 2026 Belt and Road Media Cooperation Forum journalist delegation.

Chinese Embassy in Portugal

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Portugal is China’s chief diplomatic mission to Portugal. The mission was established in September 1979, following the normalization of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and Portugal on February 8, 1979. The embassy attracted public attention in January 2023 when local residents raised concerns about its alleged surveillance practices. Residents expressed alarm that the three surveillance cameras installed at the facility might capture footage of surrounding residential apartments, raising questions about privacy and surveillance overreach beyond diplomatic premises. Following media coverage of the installations, local residents observed that the embassy had modified its surveillance setup, with one camera removed entirely and the remaining two repositioned away from the exterior perimeter of the embassy compound. 

Propaganda Office of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the CCP

The Propaganda Office of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (中共湖南省委宣傳部) serves as the chief office responsible for communicating the agendas of the provincial party leadership and overseeing state-run media in Hunan Province, including the mouthpiece newspaper Hunan Daily (湖南日報). It coordinates party ideological work throughout the province while simultaneously operating under multiple official names, allowing it to exercise comprehensive control over news, publishing, and cultural production. The department functions as the central enforcer of the party’s media discipline, ensuring all local outlets maintain proper political orientation in line with central and provincial-level directives.

ATN

ATN Bangla is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite television channel that launched on 15 July 1997, making it Bangladesh’s first privately-owned television channel and the first to broadcast via satellite. Founded by Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, the channel is owned by Multimedia Production Company and broadcasts from Dhaka’s Kawran Bazar neighborhood. ATN Bangla became the first Bengali-language television channel in the world to broadcast worldwide. The channel gained international recognition when it won the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting Award at the 32nd International Emmy Awards on 22 November 2004 for its documentary “Amrao Pari” (We Too Can), which was shot and directed by eighteen Bangladeshi teenagers and focused on the story of Abul Khaer, a 9-year-old boy who stopped a passenger train from approaching a disjointed rail track.
