A Second Death for a Student Outlet
A new report from an independent outlet shows how alumni struggled to rescue the archive of a Chinese university publication shut down earlier this year.

In late August 2026, the Chinese Communist Party’s official All-China Journalists Association (中華全國新聞工作者協會) hosted an eight-day trip to China. Fifteen senior journalists from the Taiwan-based Republic of China Veteran Journalists Association (中華民國資深記者協會) visited cultural attractions and technology companies in Shanghai and Anhui Province, and also conducted exchanges with Chinese media, including Hefei Broadcast Television (合肥市廣播電視臺) and Anhui New Media Group (安徽新媒體集團). In the ACJA’s news release, “Republic of China” (中華民國) is removed from the ROCVJA’s name and written as only “Chinese” (中華), an expression China’s contested claim over Taiwan’s sovereignty.
