ACJA Leads Chinese and Greek Reporters to Piraeus Port

On May 21, 2026, the official All-China Journalists Association (中華全國新聞工作者協會), or ACJA, a Chinese Communist Party-led professional association that serves a key role in implementing press control policies, organized a joint reporting visit by more than 20 Chinese and Greek journalists to the port of Piraeus. The visit was reported by South, the external propaganda brand of Guangdong’s South International Communication Center (南方國際傳播中心), part of the provincial Nanfang Media Group (南方報業傳媒集團), which sent its own representative on the trip. The port is operated by a subsidiary of China’s state-owned shipping giant COSCO Shipping (中國遠洋海運集團), and Chinese officials promote it as a flagship Belt and Road Initiative project. Su Xudong, president of the Piraeus Port Authority, and other executives briefed the delegation on the port’s development, its plans for cruise tourism, and its green and digital transformation. South reported that the visit enhanced “international understanding” of the port as a showcase of China-Greece cooperation. The visit took place alongside the China–Greece Media Think Tank Dialogue Roundtable in Athens, which the ACJA co-hosted that day with the Chinese School of Classical Studies at Athens. Greek participants in the roundtable included the Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspapers, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency and the public broadcaster ERT. Two days earlier, the ACJA’s International Department had held a similar roundtable in Madrid.
