Thirty-Seven Years On, a Wound That Never Closed
A former star of Chinese state television turns her camera on a Taiwanese journalist wounded in the Tiananmen crackdown — and on the limits of what witnesses could say at the time.

On 26 June 2019, China Media Group president Shen Haixiong (慎海雄) and Class Editori CEO Paolo Panerai signed a new memorandum of understanding in Beijing. According to Cinitalia, the agreement covered cooperation in TV program co-production, 5G technology, and joint China-Italy media reporting. Both parties reportedly planned to collaborate on coverage of the 2022 Beijing and 2026 Milan Winter Olympics. The state-controlled China Media Group (中央廣播電視總台), which incorporates CCTV and numerous radio stations, would work with Class Editori’s multimedia platforms to promote content, including a 100-episode documentary “Da Chang’an a Roma.” Panerai expressed eagerness to introduce “the real, three-dimensional and objective China” to Italian audiences.
