The Problem With Peach
AI anchors and AI-generated dramas are growing rapidly in China. But how far can a generative persona go before the illusion is broken? Meet Peach Fang.

The Guizhou Daily Convergent Media Group (貴州日報當代融媒體集團有限責任公司) is an entity full controlled by provincial government in Guizhou, and fully held, according to registration records, by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province (貴州省人民政府國有資產監督管理委員會), the body that administers state-owned enterprises. The group was created in 2019 through the merger of two state-run media groups in the province, the Guizhou Daily Press Group (貴州日報報業集團), which publishes the province’s CCP flagship paper, Guizhou Daily, and Contemporary Guizhou Publishing Media Group (當代貴州期刊傳媒集團), the publisher since 2011 of a number of periodicals, including Contemporary Guizhou (當代貴州). In June 2026, the Guizhou Daily Convergent Media Group signed a memorandum of cooperation with Tavuli News, a privately-held media outlet in the Solomon Islands. In Tavuli’s own read-out on the cooperation, it referred to the Chinese partner as the “Guizhou Today Convergent Media Group.” The 2019 merger was reportedly driven by the provincial CCP committee.
