The Problem With Peach
AI anchors and AI-generated dramas are growing rapidly in China. But how far can a generative persona go before the illusion is broken? Meet Peach Fang.

On June 27, 2026, the Guizhou Daily Convergent Media Group (贵州日报当代融媒体集团有限责任公司), an entity full controlled by provincial government in Guizhou, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Tavuli News, a privately-owned news outlet in the Solomon Islands. Attending the event, Li Weihong (李卫红), the editor-in-chief of Guizhou Daily (贵州日报), the flagship newspaper of the Guizhou provincial committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), welcomed the delegation from the Solomon Islands and expressed the hope for “normalized relations” between the two sides. According to a read-out from the Tavuli News, which referred to its partner as the “Guizhou Today Convergent Media Group,” the partnership “establishes a framework for cooperation in news exchanges, joint reporting, journalist exchanges and professional development.” The agreement, which reportedly has a duration of three years, also expresses the intent to form a young journalist exchange program and to pursue multimedia reporting on “topics of mutual interest.” Registration listings in China shows that Guizhou Today Convergent Media Group is fully held by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province (贵州省人民政府国有资产监督管理委员会), the body that administers state-owned enterprises.
