The Independent

The Independent was an English-language daily newspaper published in Dhaka, Bangladesh, that launched on March 26, 1995, by Beximco Group, making it the first four-color, 16-page daily in the country and the first to use imported newsprint. The newspaper was owned by Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited, commonly known as Beximco Group, which was founded in the 1970s by brothers Ahmed Sohail Fasihur Rahman and Salman Fazlur Rahman. The Independent introduced Bangladesh’s first 32-page weekend magazine and underwent a rebranding in October 2010 with an enhanced focus on fast and authentic news coverage. The newspaper ceased printed publication in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ceased all operations in 2022.

Canal 2 International

Canal 2 International is Cameroon’s first private television channel, initially launched in 2001 and rebranded under its current name in 2004. Based in Douala’s Akwa district, the network is owned by Emmanuel Chatue’s TV+ Group. Initially broadcasting primarily music content until its temporary closure in 2003, Canal 2 evolved into a general-interest station focused on continuous news coverage, entertainment, and sports, broadcasting in both French and English. The channel gained prominence through its production of situation comedies and image-based news broadcasts, and has expanded its programming to include numerous drama series such as “Tourbillon de Passions,” “El Diablo,” and “Avenida Brasil.” In 2020, Canal 2 made history by hosting the first live televised press conference for a Cameroonian artist, when Josco L’inquiéteur’s single “Les Histoires de Sangmelima” was unveiled. The channel is owned by telecommunications engineer Emmanuel Chatue, who started as a cable distributor in Douala before launching his television venture.

Literarni noviny

Literární noviny is a Czech monthly magazine for culture and politics with a rich history dating back to 1927. Originally published by various companies, it became most notably associated with the European Literary Club (ELK) until 1941. After World War II, the publication was revived and later became part of the state-controlled publishing house Československý spisovatel. The magazine experienced its golden period in the mid-1960s, serving as a crucial platform for intellectual discourse across Czech society. It featured prominent domestic authors like Ivan Klíma, Ludvík Vaculík, and Václav Havel, alongside translations of international writers such as Sartre and Aragon.

El Mundo Financiero

El Mundo Financiero, founded in 1946 by José Luis Barceló Fernández de la Mora, is an international economic and financial daily publication based in Madrid. The outlet specializes in economics, finance, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), stock markets, foreign trade, banking, and insurance. The publication also features specialized sections on automotive, wine, and gastronomy. El Mundo Financiero maintains offices in Madrid, Barcelona, and Pamplona.

Thmey Thmey

Thmeythmey, launched in 2012, is a Cambodian digital media platform founded by a group of journalists who were working at the time for RFI and Cambodge Soir. The outlet was initially established as part of Mengly J Quach Holdings under the ownership of Mengly J. Quach (គួច ម៉េងលី). However, in May 2017, Mengly J. Quach resigned from the advisory board of Thmey Thmey, stating that he had sold his shares and had no further connection with Thmey Thmey. Based in Phnom Penh, Thmeythmey covers politics, economics, society, and culture through various journalistic formats. The platform operates sister sites, including Cambodianess (English-language version) and Thmey Thmey 25 (focused on agriculture and SMEs). According to CFI, Thmeythmey.com has around 500,000 daily visitors and maintains a Facebook page with more than 1 million followers.
